BANGARANG
Bangarang is a UK Antweight weighing 150g in its heaviest setup. Its design is based on US 12lb Cannibal, with two large rear wheels and an angled spinner at the front of the machine. Bangarang also follows some of the stylistic choices of Retcon Robotics with two front pontoon sections to absorb big hits, this design can be found in both Wild Side and Do Ya as well.
The initial design was drawn up by myself (Jevan) and then created in CAD by Sion Williamson. The bot was then printed by Rob Weston witht he top polycarb panel being cut by Felix Townsend. The robot was then put together by Jevan, bringing the process full circle.
Bangarang first competed at Antweight World Series (AWS) 65 in Norwich during November 2022 where it picked up a 1:2 record. Bangarang's greatest weakness proved to be its own gyroscopic forces which threw the bot around and, on occasion, out of the arena. Despite this, it is one of my favourite bots to run as it is just plain daft and somewhere near uncontrollable.
